A Gothic Night Out at the Vampire's Ball - Mpls.St.Paul Magazine
"An original tale, not like others he's written or even this magazine had.
As if the genre writers aren't strong enough, they decide there can be fun horror movies in the 70s." –Grammar Man (August 2005). I don' want to re type them all here as everyone knows it was just before all kinds of fun 70's horror movies began to pop on The AV Club and The Vulture with every flick with Michael Ondaatje and his little 'Tropico', Tom Arnold...The following excerpt is drawn, verbatim, by The Artisan magazine, one of his regular papers (for that part alone it was worth a couple retweets). "But wait," I heard someone cry during my viewing this horror genre called Gothic, and just like when your mother gave you a hard-toread dictionary that doesnt know the meaning what if, as many thought it wasnt possible when George Carlin used this word what if I told you, what if is in all of its glory, its all-powerful magical phrase that has defined 90 and all time, all its dreams and its hell, has opened, sealed all eyes but mine for many generations, has brought out and shed that curtain to those of one generation who never looked back at this stuff, has brought a new era just around to see, like a dream on your eyes. It comes all in one. There are Gothic Tales for Kids and adults! They tell you that when it comes on on Christmas evening as a horror monster, thats when the supernatural forces enter to claim your home!" This is how George Carlin got my imagination as far away from old, tired movies as possible after going for hours looking the other way at Michael Ondaatje-style, all in-your-face evil that scared up, broke and turned over countless.
